Construction Science and Management Co-op Student Placement

The General Contractors’ Section- TCA recognizes the drastic need for highly trained Construction Professionals who can plan, organize, direct, and control construction projects from start to finish according to contracts, budgets, schedules, and specifications.  To help meet these demands, the General Contractors Section-TCA, in conjunction with the Toronto Construction Association and its Member Companies, participated in developing the province’s only four-year degree granting program in Construction Science and Management at George Brown College.  The new degree program provides the in-depth theoretical preparation, project-based team learning and mandatory co-op work experience essential to meeting these requirements.

During this economic downturn, the College has experienced difficulty finding co-op placements which students require to graduate from the program.  Co-op students are available to work between May-August and your company has full discretion over the student’s salary.  The average salary for co-op students in the Construction Science and Management is $14/hr, and employers are eligible for the Ontario Government Co-op Education tax credit.  The General Contractors’ Section asks that you continue to invest in the future of the construction industry by hiring George Brown College co-op students.

For further information about hiring a co-op student, please contact Alexis Trejgo at atrejgo@georgebrown.ca or by phone at 416-415-5000 ext. 6829.  Thank you for your ongoing support.
